We’re living in a material world. Soon we may be living in a virtual one. Until then we have to settle for messed up-looking holograms and CGI. Those things are scary. That’s fine, because Dr. Carroll says it’s time to embrace our fears, along with the many other negative emotions we attempt to run from. So go watch The Polar Express until it doesn’t creep you out any more.
Songs are often misunderstood. It doesn’t help that they often use obscure metaphors and unfitting tones. Even more difficult to understand are people who go on a rampage. We can’t investigate exactly what’s wrong with their brains, but we can attempt to understand their motives and perhaps use that knowledge to make the future a bit safer.
