Tim Pawlenty is a Minnesota Republican politician who served as the 39th governor of the state from 2003 to 2011. Pawlenty entered politics at the age of 28, elected to a term on the Eagan City Council in Minnesota. He served two terms as governor, re-elected for his second term by 1 percentage point. In March of 2011, he announced he was launching a 2012 presidential exploratory committee but eventually he withdrew from the race. Soon after, he announced that he would endorse Republican candidate Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, for the presidential nomination.

Mary Pawlenty is a former American state court judge who served on Minnesota’s First Judicial District from 1994 to 2007. She was First Lady of Minnesota from 2003 to 2011. She previously worked as a private-practice attorney and is now mediator and arbitrator of civil disputes.
